Leaked images suggest Tesla Cybertruck production is coming soon

Recently, pictures of the white body of the suspected Tesla Cybertruck were leaked. The state of the body-in-white in the photo suggests that initial production of the all-electric pickup truck is about to begin at Gigafactory Texas.

Leaked images show the Tesla Cybertruck apparently using giant castings, especially at the front and rear of the body-in-white. As some Tesla enthusiasts have observed, the Cybertruck's complete white body doesn't appear to feature the much-anticipated "exoskeleton" design the company highlighted when it unveiled the vehicle in 2019.

It's worth mentioning that the full white body looks much more refined in the latest leaked photos compared to the one leaked in December last year. Last year, an image of the Cybertruck at the Gigafactory auto show in Texas was posted online, showing the rear of the all-electric pickup.

The Cybertruck that leaked last December is still largely a prototype, according to comments from veteran Tesla teardown expert Sandy Munro. The auto industry veteran pointed out that the giant cast in the leaked image is made of several welded parts made by foam-vanishing casting, which is great for a prototype. But that doesn't seem to be the case with the latest photos of the Cybertruck's body-in-white from the Gigafactory in Texas.

"It's called lost foam (casting). So what I can do is make a foam model, something like that, lay it out in sand, and pour the melted aluminum into the casting or the mold that will make the polystyrene The ethylene foam sublimates. It just disappears. It turns into a gas, and then it fills up the core in the mold, and then it forms this casting. It’s a great idea for prototype parts,” Munro points out.

Musk drives Tesla Cybertruck

Tesla Cybertruck production is imminent. Earlier, Tesla CEO Musk revealed on Twitter that he recently drove the model near Austin, Texas. With every new Cybertruck reveal, the all-electric pickup looks more and more production-ready. Musk is again driving the vehicle himself, perhaps indicating that the final details of the all-electric pickup have been hammered out.
